A Happy Surprise- August Glossybox

Hello to all and to all a joyous hello,

So as any of you that follow me on Instagram will know yesterday I received my August Glossybox which was a delightful surprise seen as when I checked that morning my account said it hadn't yet been shipped (good job I didn't go out early!). Now if you saw last months review then you will know that I was not that impressed with my box as I believed no 'thought' had gone into picking the products that were right for me. Also I admit it I wanted the darn Sleek 'pout paints'. So with that in mind that I hesitantly opened my box. Even managing to go downstairs and make a coffee before I even took off the lid! Now that is saying something.
As I finally picked up the box a thought ran through my head 'oh no this feel far too light! Oh god it's just going to be lots of tiny perfume samples isn't it'. I must admit I was blooming terrified to take up the lid and peek inside (I know right now your probably thinking my God woman it's only a beauty box but just think of it like receiving a bad present at Christmas)however as I lifted it to examine it's contents a waft of sweet smelling goodness launched into the air and with that pleasant smell clinging to my nostrils I finally found the courage to undo the signature ribbon and launch right in.
And...I was not disappointed. Thank God for that!
According to this months (let's face it rather beautiful) Glossybox magazine this months box is named high-flyers. Which according to the article inside means a box 'perfect for the girl on the go' with products from all over the world from Sweden and Brazil all the way back to the UK.

What I received in my box:
  1. Emite Make Up- Eyelash Curler
  2. Jelly Pong Pong- 2-in-1 Shadow/Liner

After the disaster of last months box I'm happy to say that I am very impressed with this months items. Not only are four of the products full size (go Glossybox!) but I feel as if they matched my 'beauty profile' much better than previous boxes and that as a customer I've actually been listened to. Well worth my £12.95 monthly subscription fee.
Now I don't know about you but I swear I never, literally never finish my make up without creating some sort of mess, normally around the eye area that I'm going to have to spend ages cleaning up with a cotton bud that there always seems to be one lying around near my dressing table). So needless to say that I was in awe of this first item...it's a make up remover PEN! Ooooh how handy! Can't wait to give it a try.
This is the first of said four full size products and is not actually available to buy yet in the UK (very fancy).
Next in my rummage was Urban Veda's Daily Radiance Facial Wash. Now I have recently ran out of facial wash so right there was a reason for me to be happy already. This one promises to naturally brighten/balance skin tone and is made using fruit enzymes. Now wonder where that incredible smell I mentioned was? Well wonder no more my friends as it was this little beauty which is said to include coriander and papaya among it's scrummy ingredients. We may all know by my previous reviews that I'm not the best at describing the scent of facial creams but I will give it a crack and say that yes this does smell like papaya! See I'm getting better at this. Albeit very very strong 'perfume' style papaya. Now the scent on this is very strong (strong enough to give me a bit of a headache actually so I'm not sure how gentle it will be on my skin. Of course I will give it a whirl and let you all know.
That being said though Urban Veda is a holistic brand that naturally derives its ingredients from herbs, flowers and fruits and is vegetarian society approved which as a veggie for the past 7ish years I am always very happy to inform the world.
Now this product is a luxury sample at 20mls with the full size retailing at £7.99 for the full 150ml.
Now to a hair care product by a brand that I am very familiar with (but didn't know was American, you learn something new everyday) TRESemme. This specific product would be their Keratin Smooth Concentrated Treatment Shot, Hallelujah said my poor, bleached, battered hair. Bless it, it's been through a lot as of late and to be honest has started falling out at any given opportunity. A fact that I'm not particularly enthralled by so I look forward to giving this intensive conditioning treatment a whirl whilst my lilac has washed out.
This is yet again a full size product at 15ml and retails at £1.49. Available at Superdrug, Boots, Tesco and Waitrose.
Now in regards to the next product I have a rather funny story to share. Since my last Glossybox I have been giving much more thought to what I would actually like to receive in my box for the next month. I remember having the exact thought of 'wouldn't it be nice if I received an eyelash curler'. The reasoning behind this being that I have been after an eyelash curler for what seems like a lifetime since my last one broke. However after rummaging around many stores, an unfortunate incident in Tesco when I found one in the sale bin for £1 only to find out at the checkout that it was in fact £5 (oops que awkward moment of asking the shop assistant to swipe it off my bill). And as controversial as this may sound I've never found the need for an expensive eyelash curler to me an eyelash curler is an eyelash curler, surely I should be able to find one for a reasonable price. Guess what I did exactly that the day before my Glossybox came whilst in the queue at Matalan. Yes it may be magenta with garish diamante's but it was reduced to £1.50 so into my basket (well my sisters actually, thank you Lou) it went and the next morning of course I couldn't wait to use it.
About twenty minutes later my package arrived and inside, you guessed it was my 'dream' product an eyelash curler, and a fancy one at that (hmmm maybe it would be better, I sense a comparison post coming on, let me know in the comments if you'd like that).
This specific eyelash curler is from the brand Emite Make-up and retails at £20 for the full size which of course it is. Yes this product blows the £12.95 paid for the box straight out the water.
And finally last but certainly not least, I'm happy to inform you is a make up product. Again if you have read my previous reviews you will know that this is the main reason why I joined Glossybox so a make-up product (or two. wink, wink) is more than welcome. This time it's by a brand that frequents the UK Glossybox and that I've always wanted to try, Jelly Pong Pong. The product in this months box was their 2-in-1 eyeliner & shadow crayon and the shade I received was black. You could have received three colours black, plum and steel. Now I would have been happy with any colour however I have been meaning to recreate a heavy black Smokey eye look from a recent l'oreal Paris campaign (I believe it was the Blackbuster eyeliner) and with the help of the Oceane Make- up remover pen I'm pretty sure I can now make this possible without looking like a racoon.
I swatched this as soon as I had battled to free it from it's packaging ( a task in these nails I can assure you!) and it is indeed a true rich black colour. Cannot wait to use this, especially in AW with the 'Rebel' look that is set to burst onto the scene.
This again is a full size product and retails at £10.50.
Overall I am ecstatic to tell you that I will be sticking with Glossybox for another month. I believe that my main concerns that I view in my last post have been sorted in this box and I am happy to say that this box has been a joy to receive and review for you all.
Let me know in the comments what you received in your
Glosssybox? Have a favourite product? And once again I hope you enjoyed this post. Thank you so much for reading and supporting me.

    1. Haha oh no! Me too tbh I probably should be putting the money to more vital things like food! I would say that it was worth it if you like a gamble as sometimes you end up with the crappy end of the stick. :)

  2. I got exactly the same items as you and I was pleasantly surprised by the lash curlers and make up remover pen!

Hopefully the team at Glossybox have started looking into the profiles of its customers! ....I hope!
